15mm Norman or Breton Lightly armoured Cavalry (Separate horse and riders)
Unarmoured horsemen as depicted in the Bayeux tapestry and later 11th century manuscripts. Can be used as Breton javelin armed Light Cavalry simply by cutting their spears short. You can also bend their arms a little to simply create more varied poses!

rural scenic bases for FoW

This are the new scenic bases for the "rural" series, compatible with FoW standard medium and small base size:

If you are familiar with the old ones you may notice these are much more closely themed, no tree stumps or sandbags on these! The reason is that we are going to introduce two whole new series, Desert and Forest, and those two items will appear (only) on them; this way you'll get the maximum variety and also freedom of choice!

As usually you will get six different small bases picked at random out of the eight design shown above in each pack!

15mm Ligures!

A quick peek at the new Ligurian infantry sculpted by M. Campagna which will soon be added to the catalog... The Ligures (often Ligurians in English) were an ancient people who lived in a vast region comprising not only the area that is still called Liguria today, much of Piedmont and part of other nearby regions of north-western Italy, including Corsica and Sardinia, but also a large part of what today is southern France as far as Massilia (modern Marseilles). According to Plutarch they called themselves Ambrones, but this does not necessarily indicate a relationship with the Ambrones of northern Europe.

Nobody knows for sure what are the origins of these people, there were probably a Celtic population but there is also a Pre-Indo-European origin thesis according which the Ligurians, together with the Iberians, constituted the remains of the native populations that lived in Western Europe and therefore would be direct descendants of the Cro-Magnon men that lived throughout Gaul from the Mesolithic.

The Ligures seem to have been ready to engage as mercenary troops in the service of others. Ligurian auxiliaries are mentioned in the army of the Carthaginian general Hamilcar in 480 BC.Greek leaders in Sicily continued to recruit their mercenary forces from them as late as the time of Agathocles.
They fought long and hard against the Romans, but were assimilated by them during the 2nd century BC.
According to Livy the Roman forces raised for the Third Macedonian war included 2000 Ligures.
Ancient sources mention Ligurian hexagonal shields.

Production molds for these figures are now ready, so these will soon be in catalog!

The picture is of the first test cast of 28002CB sandbag gun emplacement, everything seems ok so it is in production as of now and will be available shortly!

NRM7 - Norman Milites charging with lance overarm

Latest addition to our growing range of 15mm Normans is a pack of Milites charging with lance overarm:

as opposed to charging with lance underarm as those already released as NRM2:

The new pack include 4 mounted figures as usually, in the 3 poses shown.

These are separately cast horse and raiders (again unlike NRM2 which are cast in one single piece); lances are also supplied separately, so you can easily replace them with thin brass rod if you prefer.

Another difference is that the shield of the figures in the new NRM7 pack is flat, there is no central raised boss, to allow for even more variation when you mix them with other packs...

These are actual production casts, not a WIP, so these are going to be available very soon...

More figures for this and the other ranges are always in development!

WIP field kitchen

I just wanted to share a first look at another WIP: field kitchen for Roman and Medieval armies!

This is a test cast of the two scenic sets with the metal details in place, each comprise four individual pieces that can be used in a great number of different settings. (The thin square base is just a left over of the casting process, it's very easy to separate the parts from it).

Marco should soon start working on some figures for them; the two packs will include one of the sets above plus themed figures for it; but the resin on their own can be used for a much wider variety of armies...

The thing that look like a modern stove in the top left corner of the cast on the right is of course a Roman craticula, a combined broiler, boiler and stove based on original size and dimensions of the Pompeii craticula shown in Naples' National museum.

Unlikely to ever had been a standard army issue admittedly but it would certainly make an officer life more comfortable, especially in colder climates!

I just wanted to share a quick look at the new Carolingian range sculpted by M. Campagna which will soon be added to the catalog... I'm still in the process of finishing masters and molds for all the figures but these are the first packs which are now in production!

First of all, the mounted command:

The character pack will include two versions of the Big Carolus, one mounted and one on foot plus Imperial standard bearers, again mounted and or foot. It is mainly intended to add color and variation to command packs for large armies but will be perfect all for small scale skirmish actions...

1:48 sandbag bunker!

More terrain for 1-48COMBAT coming soon!

This sandbag bunker is part of the new command post pack, the roof is a separate piece and can be positioned at different heights depending where you set the beams in relation to the posts.
The images are of the first test cast, production should start shortly... the figure is there for size reference only, it's a 36mm figure from the new coming 1-48COMBAT faction for the game, that is a bit further down the line though... :) as you can see is perfectly usable with 28mm figures (which are 30-32mm high) as well.

Seen from the back with the two corner sections of entrenchment included in the command pack.

The corner sections will also be available separately, as well as another couple of packs which are still in development (straight sections and inner corners) and are obviously designed to match those included with 48012CS Mark Shuster and 48011 Igor Povlyak, the German and Russian grenadiers.
Together all these components form a complete modular system that will let you create a great looking fortified emplacement in a few minutes, and you can change it every time you play, plus it can be used on every front of WWII, from North Africa to the Pacific, but is also perfect for Vietnam, Korea, and even dark future settings...

15mm Numidian huts!

There is no hard evidence for these, but they are based on traditional huts made by populations that are ethnically very closed to ancient Numidians and their appearance matches the description in the sources, so I think it is fair to say these are as accurate as possible really...
In production now, I've just started painting the sample for the pictures!

15mm Wattle Fence!

Just got the first test cast of these!

The figure is one of our own 15mm Normans for size comparison. There are three different wattle fence parts: a straight section 80mm long, one 40mm long and a 40mm section with a gate on. No need for curved sections as these can be easily bent exactly at the angle you want simply by warming them up (an hair-drier would do the trick nicely) and then set them again by plunging them in cold water.

Can be used from prehistory up to contemporary settings in any rural area; I know there are already quite a few around but I also know from personal experience (I bought them!) that they are either extremely brittle and fragile or poorly modelled and worst cast... some even all of it! :) Beside I'm starting to work on several 15mm dark age buildings to go with our own miniatures so I figured we really needed a decent set of hazel fencing for it!

The commercial pack will probably include 4 x 80mm long sections and one each of the others.

Will be out soon as part of the Urbis range!

Modular bridge extension!

Nearly ready with the extension for our modular rural bridge!

This is a test shot for the painted sample, apologies for the crappy lighting...

On the left you can see the components, the free-standing supports match those of the bridge pack so they can be combined to extend it as much as one likes!

At the top a shot of the bridge plus one extension pack. The side ramps are designed to be just a little higher to match the extra height the bridge is going to be at when you place it on top of a river model. If you want them at the same height for any reason you can either base the post on a 2mm piece of hardboard or plasticard or sand off the 2mm extra base at the bottom of the ramps...

Coming next is a modular stone quay, you can use the bridge extension pack together with this to make a small wooden jetty, perfect for 28mm figures, or as much larger harbour dock for 15mm!

The second longer wooden dock is the central section of the bridge pack; the figures are Warlord Games (28mm Roman) and Essex (15mm Celtic); all the stacked goods are from our own line of supplies.

The boat is another work in progress... :)
